The Howard Block is an example of collaboration and imagination, producing revitalization to a depressed and vacant downtown storefront building in Vermont. The additional benefit of this project is the affordable housing now available to the community in Bellows Falls, VT.
This building has 13 residential second story units, with first floor commercial space. Energy efficient Buderas cast iron boilers with terminal units and finned tube radiation provide the heat, while split system air conditioning units offer cooling so comfort is not compromised despite a tight budget. Electric controls enabled individual temperature control in each unit. Affordable, appropriate design with an eye toward civic improvement made this a highly recognized community project in the state of Vermont.
