The Richmond Middle School, located in Hanover, NH is a new 103,000 square foot middle school, while the Hanover High School consists of 200,000 square feet of new and renovated spaces.
Both schools are heated with wood chip burning systems furnished by Messersmith Energy that utilize Hurst boilers. The Richmond Middle School has a 180 HP boiler while the High School has a 230 HP boiler. Buderus oil fired boilers provide 100% back up at both schools.
In both buildings classroom ventilation is provided by unit ventilators. The system is designed to provide 15 cfm per person. The cafeteria and gymnasium are ventilated using air handling units equipped with variable speed drives that automatically adjust the ventilation rate to correspond to the occupancy using carbon dioxide levels as an indicator.
