Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield, NH built a new maintenance facility/skill center in 2007, which features a state-of-the-art rainwater catchment system. As far as we know, it is the first rainwater harvesting system in New Hampshire. It was designed by SVE Associates (civil engineers) and Kohler & Lewis (mechanical engineers).

Rainwater from the 20,000 square foot roof is collected into a single ten-inch pipe, and up to 10,000 gallons are stored in an underground concrete tank. Rainwater is drawn from the tank by a 3/4-HP pump and used primarily for flushing the five flush valve toilets and one urinal. The rainwater passes through a multi-stage filtration and acid neutralization system before being distributed through copper water piping. There is also the provision for back-up domestic water supply if needed.
